I have been looking for something small that I can bring out to the hills with me.
What are you guys using when you film?
Does it say anywhere what kind of gear tj brings out with him to the slopes? It looks like he upgraded cameras at some point and I'm guessing it is more than I want to spend but it would be nice as his videos always seem to turn out so nice.
I use a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3. It's last years model, but shoots almost HD (840 x 480 pixels (WVGA) @ 30 fps). The new versions are actually HD (the TZ-5). If you're looking for a cam that can shoot good quality video, really good pics with tons of options, this is a good one. The other nice feature is shooting in 16:9 aspect for a much wider angle. This is nothing compared to a fish-eye lens, but kicks most of my friends Digi's asses with ease.
i picked up a little sony hd cam this season and a century death lens , really good cam ,
i also grabbed the one that shoots to tape rather than hard drive , i really dont like converting the format , it has a bit of a lag when you hit record but overall its a good camera

i also built a handle out of metal so it is really steady of follow cams. with an average hd cam u can upgrade things like putting a 35 mm converter onto it with a 55mm slr lens that will make it look professional. get a fisheye for shure tho.
You should realy get a goPro Camera, films in full HD(30fps) for 4 hours if you use 32gb memory card, its VERY small and can be put unto your helmet etc.
i have the FlipHD. Its great for the size, when im not using it i just put it in my pocket. The only down fall is that its hard to keep steady sometimes.
Yeah I use the Canon HV30, its the best camera for online HD production for the money. I'd also recommend looking into a Contour HD helmet cam or a GoPro HD. Both are pretty sick quality and a lot cheaper than the Canon.
