in skiing the boots are like 15 pounds each and it was harder to do tricks and rails on skis wheras any newbie (like me) can do tricks and have fun on snowboards allot easier. skiing is also more expensive to buy equipment. Last thing, when your doing a rail or boz in skiing, it is alot easier to get hurt and sack on a rail! AHHHOOUUUCHCCCCHHH!!!
hope i helped! =) good luck!
How about the injury factor, i used to ski and hands down you can go faster, and also bigger airs because of the physics of skis compared to boards. you have less resistance because of the reduced base and more length to base ratio most the time so it makes you really fast and with the two edges compared to one when carving it makes turning much quicker. however you bail going down the mountain on skis and you are in for a treat, you usually yard sale it (gear goes everywhere) having to chase your skis halfway down the slope in clunky ass boots and your legs flail all over the place which it makes it easier to completly fuck yourself up. I changed to boarding when i was a freshman in highschool and had been skiing for about 10 years. i would never go back boards are more fun and safer in the long run if you don't factor in the whole stupid factor that usually occurs on a board because of the emphasis on park and stuff.
the learning curve is also a bit different, skis are alot harder to control because each foot has a board to control so it takes alot more coordination whereas a snowboard is jjust a giant plank which you are chillin on so i found controlling a snowboard in the beginning easier. and again i emphasis that it is alot easier to get hurt or go out of control while skiing because of the two foot deal. just look at Sunny dude died hittin a tree because he lost control of his skis, wouldnt happen on a board just sit your ass down haha or you would inevitably catch an edge to stop yourself by accident.
hope this helped a little bit
